Hello, My name is Samwise Shurtleff and I am currently a student at Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School. I chose to attend this school with the express intent of joining the Computer Science program, which I successfully achieved. Through my coursework, I have learned much about programming and web design and have even been able to learn game development. I truly found the courses in Game Development wondrous and am particularly fond of the Ninja Adventure game. While at Old Colony, I’ve participated in a few clubs, such as E-Sports and Dungeons and Dragons. These experiences have allowed me to connect with my peers and grow both socially and creatively.
After I’m finished with high school, I will plan to attend a college to further my education in computer science, likely pursuing the field of game development. I’m particularly interested in some nearby colleges such as Bridgewater State University or the New England Institute of Technology. I look forward to meeting new people who share my interests in these schools, perhaps at the various clubs they have to offer.
My long term goal for after college is to work in the game development industry. Ideally, I would like to create my own game studio where I can focus on my own game ideas. I wouldn’t mind working for a company to help make the games I’ve always enjoyed playing, but I’d still much rather start a small company and make my own games.
Outside of technology, I enjoy playing piano and annually perform in a recital, which is rather exciting and involves months of practicing a song or two to make sure it goes smoothly. I also have experience in acting, including a performance in a production in Annie. These creative experiences complement my interest in game design and storytelling and will prove to be very beneficial to the enrichment of my career.
