One of our related assignments in freshman year was to create a cybersecurity PSA. I was partnered with my classmate Isabella and we decided to use Scratch to make a little video. While we didn’t get to used any text-based programming language, we still technically practiced programming, so that’s always a good thing.

We did some research and found just how long it takes brute force methods to break passwords with varying lengths and character types. At the time of the research, it would take over 26,000,000,000,000 years to guess a password with at least 18 characters and having some be both uppercase and lowercase letters, some benumbers, and others be special characters.

I do rather like the video we made. It’s pretty simple but it’s both funny and informative. Steamboat Willie had just entered the public domain so we threw the song from it into the ending for some extra charm.
